In his second volume of memoirs, Ways of Escape (1980), Graham Green observed the following:"Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic fear which is inherent in the human situation.”
How can writers use memoirs as therapy to deal with the human situation and to reflect on larger issues/ideas? In addition to your own independent reading, use specific evidence from at least two different memoirs read in class.

DON'T write your essay this weekend! You won't be able to use it on Monday! You DO need to take some time to PLAN though! Use the outline handout to briefly structure your essay. You should have an introduction, at least 3 body paragraphs (each with 2 chunks), and a conclusion.
